As a way of becoming self sustainable in future, the Fiwagoh mission is doing farming on it’s own 25 acres of land in the property. Since five years ago when the home was moved from the other rented property, the mission has cut down it’s expenses for most of the green vegetables and some tropical fruits for up to 60% .
The farm has produced bananas, papayas, oranges, sugarcane, and short-term green vegetables such as kale, spinach, cabbages, onions, tomatoes and peppers, these have greatly supplemented nutritious foods fit for the family.
The excess from these produces are taken to the local markets and to the community for sell in order to buy other home needs. Through a recent donation of the 6 pieces of the green houses, we are now able to plant more of these vegetables and we look forward for more fruition in the farm.
The above six green houses is a huge donation that was given by the kite child organization in the USA as a means to support the home with groceries from the garden and that the extra produces can be sold in the nearby local market, from which the funds generated from the garden to pay additional care givers for the little ones in the home. Much appreciation to this organization for making it a success including the training offered to our gardeners under their expense.
